Rev. Grace Ferris

Currently a deacon in the Catholic Apostolic Church in North America (CACINA), I will be fully ordained a priest by the time Keystone arrives. CACINA is an open and affirming, independent church; I am its only transgender clergy member. I pastor CACINA's Saint Wilgefortis Transmission, the nation's only Catholic mission expressively for the transgender community.

I hold a master's degree from Liberty University's seminary, and am a graduate of the interfaith ministry program at All Faiths Seminary International in New York City. I currently hold two concurrent volunteer ministry positions: one as interfaith chaplain at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady NY, and the other as chaplain for the 10th Area Command of the New York Guard, the state defense force that is subordinate to the Army National Guard.

Although a practicing independent Catholic, my training at All Faiths Seminary, and my experience as both a hospital and a military chaplain have given very valuable understanding of the divergent cultural and religious traditions of those in my care.

I am retired from a lengthy career in nonprofit administration, much of that with the American Red Cross. I also held administrative posts at Boston, Case Western Reserve, Drexel, and Niagara universities; the University at Buffalo; Albany Institute of History & Art; and the New York State Museum. I hold two undergraduate degrees from Niagara University. I have five grown children and the cutest granddaughter imaginable.

Cher Poitevien
Personal Stylist

I am Cher Poitevien, a personal stylist specializing in bra fits, undergarments and plus-size fashion. A fashion junkie since my teens, my stylist journey began when I tried to curtail my retail habit. My closets were bursting at the seams, but SHOPPING and BUDGET are two words that I just couldn't make work together. It was time for Plan B; I went to work part-time at a plus-size clothing retailer solely for the discount. During one of my first shifts, I approached a woman who told me she was there to find an outfit for a family function, and then burst into tears. I instantly knew her pain because it was my own - wanting to look and feel beautiful, but thinking that it's hopeless because of your size. There was no way I was going to let her leave my store feeling that way. After a few questions, I set her up in a dressing room, pulled a few outfits and proper undergarments, and we got down to business. An hour later, she was ready to purchase an entire outfit, sexy new bras and panties, shoes and accessories. And she was crying again, and laughing, and hugging me. And the usually not-very-emotional me was crying and hugging her back. As they left the store, her mom hugged me and said "Thank you for making my daughter feel as beautiful as she is." And I knew then that I had found my true calling. It's not difficult to make a woman look beautiful, but there is a special kind of magic that emanates from a woman who FEELS beautiful.

Carlotta Svoboda
Certified Vibrational Sound Therapist

After working in the medical field for 25 years and being a spiritual person that enjoys helping people and giving back to the community, I was looking for a more holistic modality to help people relax, meditate and heal. I ran across an advertisement for vibrational sound therapy and just knew this was exactly what I needed to do.

When you relax, you open the door for your mind, body and soul to grow and heal.

This is a very excellent hands-off, non-disrobing way to help with stress, anxiety, depression and many other issues. It also promotes deep meditation.

Using therapeutic grade singing bowls on certain areas of the body helps relieves tension and pain and promotes a state of well-being.

Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) combines powerful vibration and tones to induce an immediate relaxed state. The induction of the sound waves directly into the body along with soothing ambient tones is such a strong treatment that clients report effects ranging from a meditative state to deep relaxation. By placing the therapeutic singing bowls directly on the body and using correct techniques, a practitioner engages with their client both physically and aurally.

The techniques associated with VST have many advantages over traditional massage. One major comfort barrier that prevents many people from receiving a traditional massage is fear of being touched by a stranger. In the VST method, the client remains fully clothed and is never touched directly by the practitioner. In fact, because the singing bowl is doing most of the physical work, contact is kept to minimum. This does not diminish the connection between client and practitioner because spiritual intimacy is maintained through the sound and the vibration transmitted through the bowl. Vibrational Sound Therapy is also much less physically intrusive than traditional hands-on massage and won’t leave the client feeling sore.

Lindsey Taub
Image Consultant/Stylist

Lindsey is an Image Consultant and Stylist working in the Washington DC area. Over a decade ago, she ceased an opportunity to work for one of the top ten-luxury retailers in the world. Seeing the fashion firsthand and how beautiful it was, paled in comparison to watching clients’ awe-inspiring transformation with just the right garment, color, or fit.

Showing someone how to unite their inner self with the outward style they desire, turned into a passion. In 2014 she received a certification in Image Consulting and has since taken Color Intensive trainings from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Lindsey’s ability to understand, connect and build lasting relationships with those she serves has played an integral part to everyone’s success.
