2023 Participant Biographies
Dr. James Thomas, a laryngologist specializes in voice change and voice disorders. His undergraduate and medical training started at Penn State, followed by residency training at Southern Illinois University and subsequently a voice fellowship at Loyola University in Chicago. He currently offers fellowship training in laryngology in Portland, Oregon. A pioneer in surgical vocal pitch change, he develops procedures to alter voice. He developed Feminization Laryngoplasty (FemLar) over the past 20 years and has presented and published results at professional meetings and peer reviewed professional journals. Refining surgical procedures is ongoing for Feminization Laryngoplasty, vocal cord webbing, thyrohyoid elevation, pharyngeal narrowing and laser vocal cord thinning.
