2026 Participant Biographies

 

Wendi Schirvar, PhD, LP, NCSP, is a Board-Certified and Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and core faculty with the Graduate Medical Education program. As the first clinical psychologist hired by Beebe Healthcare, she concentrates on supporting and advancing the healthcare system’s Behavioral Health services through her expertise in Integrative Behavioral Health services. Dr. Schirvar earned her PhD in Educational Psychology and School Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She completed a post-doctoral clinical fellowship within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Minnesota Medical School. She is licensed in the state of Delaware as a Clinical Psychologist and a School Psychologist. She completed the Yale Certificate sponsored through Camp Rehoboth "LGBTQ-Affirmative CBT Training for Mental Health Providers" as well as the LGBTQAI+ CBT training through the American Psychological Association. She provides behavioral health care to persons in the LGBTQAI+ community through direct clinical services and precepting medical residents. She is personally invested in addressing disparities in health care for transgender persons. As a proud mom of three nonbinary children, two of whom are transgender, she has witnessed firsthand the difficulties they endure and the need for improved education and service delivery.

Prior to joining Beebe Healthcare, Dr. Schirvar served as a pediatric Clinical Psychologist and chief operating officer at the Child and Family Behavioral Health Clinic in Lewes. There, she conducted psychological assessments and facilitated therapies in inpatient and outpatient hospitals, primary care clinics, acute and sub-acute psychiatric settings, veterans’ hospitals, forensic psychiatric facilities, and schools. She has worked on state and national policies, advocating for systematic change, with her research interests investigating social and emotional competencies for persons with high intelligence, efficient and cost-effective systems change, and building biopsychosocial collaborative partnerships for the simultaneous improvement of physical and mental well-being. Throughout her career, Dr. Schirvar’s research has been presented and published in numerous respectable industry publications.
