2025 Participant Biographies

Karen is the Significant Other Program Director of TransCentralPA. She is married to Jennifer (Jen) who transitioned in 2013. Karen and Jen met in college and had been married for 24 years when Jen confided in Karen that she was transgender. It took Karen five years to accept that Jen needed to transition and that she wanted to try to make their marriage last. They renewed their vows as Karen and Jen for their 30th anniversary and have now been married for 39 years. They have a daughter, son-in-law, son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. Karen is a Preschool Teacher’s Aide and is a very active member at her Lutheran ELCA church. Karen is available throughout the conference, in group sessions and individual meetings as needed.
